The only real differince is the computer under the dash as long as it is a 3.8 4.3 5.0 5.7 cui trottelbody just get a computer for a 350

No it will not work in a 1997 Chevy 1500. First the case doesn't have the bosses for the neutral safety switch which is on the drivers side of the case. Second the solenoids inside the transmission are different for 1997 and 1993. Third the wiring harness inside the transmission is different for 1993 and 1997.
