If you are at a friend's house and need to use the toilet but it isn't just a wee is it OK to go or should you try to hold on?

Of course it is alright to use the bathroom, that's what it's there for. If there is a vent fan turn it on or if there is air freshener use that. You might have to look under the sink, but this is alright. Don't over do it, just a short spray and go back to the group.

When you need to have a bowel movement it is not healthy to hold it in and it can be uncomfortable for you so yes, by all means use your friends washroom. Some people put room sprays somewhere out in view to cover any odor than may occur. If there is no window to open then do the best you can and hopefully they have a fan in the washroom. It is wise to carry a very small bottle of air freshener (if you are a female) or even a small bottle of perfume in your purse just for this very purpose.
