I don't know where you got this weird idea that the baby of a fat mother will die in a matter of hours, but that is not true. Being fat will, on the average, reduce your life expectancy, but it does not harm your baby. If the baby grows up to be a fat person like his or her mother, then there will again be some loss of life expectancy, but even fat people can usually live for many decades.
Contrary to the above the babies of mothers who are significantly overweight do have an increased risk of mortatlity within the first year. This is probably not directly causal but because overweight mothers tend to have poor diets with too much fat, sugar and salt and not enough quality protein, vitamins and minerals.
Obesity in mothers may also be indicative of a generally poor attitude to protecting their own health or that of their child so they may also be more likely to smoke or drink in pregnancy.
