You can file for unemployment if you got fired or laid off your job after working for six months. You can get pre-tax benefits or opt to have taxes taken out up front. You report any days you worked for the period of time (week). You will not get benefits for those days. the rest of the days they will pay you. But that will extend the benefits period. All benefits will have to be reported on your taxes.
Flex time employees that work a full work week are entitled to the same benefits as any other employee working a traditional work week.
no
Health benefits vary from company to company. Most likely if the chef is working 40 hours or more per week, they're eligible for health benefits. If the chef is working as a contractor (self employed) then he/she must supply their own health benefits.
I seriously doubt it. You are still gainfully employed by the same employer - just working (and getting paid for) fewer hours. You would no more be eligible for unemployment than if your employer reduced your wages.
In most cases, that amount would exceed your weekly benefits and you would not receive unemployment for that week. They subtract your income from that week's benefits.
No, you cannot voluntarily leave a position to qualify for unemployment IF you were leaving for personal reasons. If you quit due to circumstances allowed in the state you work in (harassment, hazardous working conditions, discrimination, etc.) then yes, you could qualify for unemployment benefits.
July 5 2010 is week 28.
You can if you qualified for the unemployment, if your present pay is less than the benefits being paid, and if the state you work in allows it.

With-in one week of FILING for the benefits IF it is accepted and there is not a hearings scheduled with the company you worked for to determine if your performance etc was the result of your not working.
