You have to tell iTunes where you put the folder.
Go to Preferences -> Advanced and choose the place, where your iTunes music library should be.
On a Mac it is in the iTunes folder in the Music folder. On a Windows PC it is in the Music folder (or My Music inside My Documents on Windows 7).
Windows: iTunes default storage location is in your My Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications folder.
Finder >Your home folder > Music> iTunes > iTunes music. Depending how big this folder is, copy it onto a flash drive/external hard drive and paste it on to your new Mac, then go into iTunes and import the music folder. Should work. Good luck and congrats on the new Mac!
Press and hold on the shift key then run the Itunes , the menu will ask you to create new library , follow this , it will sort it out your problemo
Of course you can! Here is how. First make sure that the "Keep iTunes Music folder organized" option is checked in iTunes Preferences: • From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences. • In the resulting window, click the Advanced button. • Select the "Keep iTunes Music folder organized" checkbox. • Click OK. Once you've done that, follow the next set of steps to change your iTunes Music library location to the new drive and then consolidate your library to the new location. This not only copies your audio and media files over, it also retains your ratings and playlists. Note: If you move your music and media library to an external hard drive, you will need to have that drive connected to access your files. • Open iTunes. • From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences. • Click the Advanced button in the Preferences window. • Click the Change button in the iTunes Music folder location pane. • In the Change Music Folder Location window that appears, navigate to the location where you would like your new Music folder to be created. Note: By default, your iTunes Music folder is a folder named "iTunes Music" in ~/Music/iTunes/ where the tilde "~" represents your home directory. • Click the New Folder button in the Change Music Folder Location window. • In the New Folder window that appears, enter the name of the new iTunes Music folder. • Click Create. • Click Open in the Change Music Folder Location window. • Click OK in the Advanced window. • From the File menu, choose Library and then Consolidate Library... A message appears that says: "Consolidating your library will copy all of your music into the iTunes Music folder. This cannot be undone." • Click Consolidate. Important: This action copies all of your music and media files to the new location. There must be enough hard disk space available to copy all of your music and media files. • After the folder has been copied, locate your original iTunes Music folder, and drag it to the Trash or Recycle Bin. Note: Don't remove the iTunes library files that may be in the same location as the iTunes Music folder. • Empty the Trash. Additional Information If you move your library to an external drive, you'll need to power up and connect the drive before starting iTunes. If you don't, iTunes will prompt you to either locate the library or to create a new library (which will result in an empty library).
You need to tell iTunes where to find the songs. Open the iTunes Preferences. Click the Advanced button. Click the Change button for the location of the iTunes Media folder and navigate to the music on the D drive.
you place a CD in to the drive and then convert them using itunes or windows media play anything like that then get them from the programm and just pull the song into your music folder or find the song and just drag it to the folder (please note this is sorta useless if you only just want to lisen to music as you can play them straight from itunes and WMP and also put them onto a device as well)
best way I can tell you is it depends on the size of your library. You could transfer the "my music" folder from my documents onto either a flash/thumb drive or an external hard drive if it larger than the flash drive - go to my music folder, right click, then click properties, and that will tell you the size of your folder
if your c drive overloaded the affect speed of computer. the computer will be start slowly.all apllication was open slowly. and speed will be slow.because c drive is the primary drive of your computer.your OS installed in c drive.... Exit iTunes. Go to My Documents > My Music > Copy the iTunes folder to secondary hard drive. (COPY; don't cut and paste) Hold Shift, and start iTunes. It will prompt you to create a new library, or select another one. Click on select another one. Browse to your secondary drive library, and select itunes file. iTunes should start with second library. Make sure you have all the music/videos and etc. and then delete your c drive library. I take no responsibility of your actions, so be careful.
Just copy your music folder to an external hard drive if moving computers, or else a public folder if just going to another account. Add it back into iTunes then.
To Transfer iTunes folder to your external hard drive, just follow these simple steps. Boot Up and connect your external hard drive to your computer's USB port just before you open iTunes. Next you have to make sure that the 'keep iTunes music folder organized' option is checked in iTunes Preferences->advanced. From the iTunes menu you have to choose preferences. In the Preferences Window, click the advanced button. Click Change in the iTunes music folder location pane. Next, navigate to the name of the external hard drive in the change music window location. Next in the new window which appears enter the name of the new iTunes music folder. Click on Create. Click on Open in the Change Music Folder Location Window. In the advanced window that follows, click OK. Next, in the file menu, choose library->consolidate library. You will get a warning message. Don't panic. Click Consolidate. But please make sure there is enough hard disk space available to copy all your music and media files. Final step is to unplug the cable of the external hard drive once all the copying is done. That's it. Hope this helps.
