I received this error after downloading and installing the Google Toolbar. The error went away after uninstalling the toolbar.
When using internet Explorer to open Adobe, Word other documents an error message is generated when IE is closed.
The error reads something like:
"Application error. The instruction at "0x7c9105f8" referenced memory at "0x025f0010". The memory could not be "read."
So I guess an obivious solution is to un-install Google toolbar if it is installed.
-- I guess altough the problem got solved in my case by uninstalling the Google toolbar but the problem lies not with the toolbar but with a bug in the homepage of the site.. coz i used to receive the error only after closing specific sites and not all of them. Nevertheless after uninstalling the Google toolbar the problem has been solved
I have had this problem also and have cured it by inactivating one of the 'benign' BHOs (Browser Helper Objects) attached to IE. In my case it was one that came with 'Solid Converter' a PDF conversion program, although it is possible that many poorly written BHOs could cause this.
Download BHO Demon and inactivate all of the BHOs, if the problem goes away then activate each one in turn until you find the varmint and switch it off permanently.

PS Once I had tracked this down I found out that 'Solid Conveter were fully aware of the problem. Pity (as a paying customer) they didn't contact me to point this out, it would have save me many hours of fruitless experimentation.
Kevin.
ANSWER
I got my problem solved.
My application was working fine without any changes to my system which is why I was so confused. Turns out that when my application starts, it auto-opens the last directory that was worked in.
I had taken one of the files in that directory and modified it to print text on the photo using a different application. Therefore my original application which usually starts out with showing thumbnails caused the error pop-up because it is not used to non-photo information being inside of the file.
I renamed the directory that was last worked in by the application and viola… my things now works again.
I was able to single out the faulty file, opened it up with a different application and noticed it was the one I placed the text inside of weeks earlier. I deleted the file to not cause any future problems and now I am as happy as a clam at high tide.
You need to run these 6 essential steps to remove all the spyware on your computer.

5 Run Superantispyware
6. Run a complete scan with free curing utility Dr.Web CureIt!
Install threat fire which will enhance your antivirus protection
You can determine if it is an add-on by starting internet explorer with no add-ons enabled (the link for that is under "All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools" or else you can go to Start -> run -> and type "iexplore -extoff" (you can ingore the quotes))
If it is an add-on IE will behave ok, then you just have to start IE normally and dissable the add-ons one by one and restarting IE after disabling a few until you nail the bad one. (on the menu bar of internet explorer get Tools -> internet options -> click the Programs Tab -> click the "manage add-ons"). The Non-Microsoft are usually the best place to start.
In my case it was caused by Google Desktop. It wasn't an add-on at all, so I just removed Google Desktop and it was fine. It wasn't that Google Desktop is bad, it's just that it didn't quite make it through the upgrading to IE8.
Possible Reasons that Cause "Memory could not be read or written" Error and How to Fix
1. Invalid Plug-ins
In the process of web browsing, many plug-ins can be secretly installed to the computer system, and they are usually difficult to delete. Those plug-ins can easily lead to conflicts with other applications which directly cause the memory read and write errors.
How to Fix: Remove Invalid plug-ins. Let's take FireFox for example, launch a firefox windows, click "Tools" , select "Add-ons", remove unnecessary add-ons and plug-ins. It is also necessary to use a powerful security software to regularly check whether the system is installed a variety of junk software program and plug-ins, if any, clean them in a timely manner.
2. System Service is malicious modified
Windows Management Instrumentation service is tightly relevant to the memory read and write operation, which if mistakenly modified or stop will definitely lead to memory read/write failure.
How to Fix: Manually repair Windows Management Instrumentation service. Here are the detailed steps:
1) Right click "My Computer" icon on the desktop, select "Manage", then "Computer Management Computer (local)", then "Services and Applications", then "Services", on the right side area, locate Windows Management Instrumentation service, right click and pause the service.
2) Locate C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\Repository directory and back up all the files in Repository folder, when the backup is completed, clean Repository folder.
3) Restart your computer, locate Windows Management Instrumentation service as step 1) and right click and start Windows Management Instrumentation service again. This time Windows Management Instrumentation service will be working normally.
3. Memory read/write associated system files are damaged or missing.
If your computer is accidently infected with virus or encountered with some mistaken operation and cause the memory read/write associated system files corrupted or missing. It will not be surprised for you to get the "Memory could not be read or written" error warning.
How to Fix: remove security threats and repair system files.
1) Firstly run a full scan with a powerful security software to remove potential security threats. If antivirus software is not capable to remove the infe
Here are answers and opinions from FAQ Farmers: * Sounds like one of the application's DLL files has a bad or missing registry link. * Here is the offical word from Microsoft, not sure if you are accessing the apps it mentions in the KB solution, but it hits your error message right on the mark. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;268610 * I had this problem with Everquest2 and Windows Media Player....I uninstalled Netlimiter and it was fixed: http://computersandjunk.com/Guides-and-Tutorials/Computer-Maintenance/Application-Memory-Error.html
I'm afraid that microsoft's exception handling is rather cryptic, to those who do not possess the skills to decipher it. This error could be caused by any number of things... What are you doing when it occurs? If you are starting an application you have just installed, make sure it's compatible with your operating system. Got to the website of the manufacturer/vendor and download the latest updates for it. There maybe an upgraded required for it to work on your operating system. Also, go to microsoft update and ensure that your operating system has the latest updates and service packs installed. If you have had this software working on this system before, the installation maybe damaged. Uninstall it, reboot your computer and reinstall it. If you were trying to access a device (scanner, printer etc..), try re-installing that device and also check for updates on the manufacturers website.
I HAD THIS SAME ERROR ON MY COMPUTER, IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR HARDWARE. THE PROBLEM IS WITH YOUR MEMORY.
TO FIX THIS PROBLEM:
1) IF YOU ARE RUNNING 2 MEMORY CHIPS, THEN ONE SOLUTION IS TO ONE OUT AND PLAY WITH ONLY ONE.
2) OR YOU COULD PLAY AROUND WITH YOUR MEMORY TIMING IN (BIOS) TO GET IT PERFECT.
3) ALSO MAKE SURE U HAVE ENOUGH VIRTUAL MEMORY.
THIS WAS MY SOLUTION I HOPE IT HELPS.
An error that states '0x100096b0 referenced memory at 0x01528000 could not be read' is a physical fault. It is likely the RAM is faulty and needs replaced.
The instruction 0X referenced memory at 0X is a Microsoft error that comes up when a memory can not be read. Run Outlook in the "no-addon" mode and see if that helps the error.
If this (or similar things) happen a lot, you've probably got a bad memory chip and need to replace it.
If it happened just once.... cosmic rays or something; ignore it.
This is an error within the program code due to compatibility issues.
Check your memory timings in your "Bios", they are not set correctly.
This is a memory error type which depends on Explore's (browser's) version. Because of old version of browser this memory could not read. Set up newer version!
Try to run "SFC /SCANNOW" and fix the computer as it will help!
NO!
probably the owner of the site you got it from had the movie copy protected
Data or DLL MFT or directory corruption. reinstall your os, unless you are getting the error from a CD or flash drive.
Go to mircosoft web page. and go to there search bar and type in kb. then type in what you just type in here.
This is usually caused by a bad memory stick. Open up the PC and remove the memory-sticks. clean the contacts with an eraser and blow away the remnants, reinsert the memory and restart the PC. If this does not work you may need a new memory stick.
It sounds like your are trying to access and element in an array or vector that is out of bounds. I.e. an array of size 5 you are trying to access the size 5+i element.
means that what ever code was in that memory was corrupt. if it keeps doing it, it means the program is corrupt, or files it interacts with. you'll probably have to reinstall.
A file is probably missing try to re-install it from the Microsoft website
