Deleting your browsing history from your computer makes it impossible (at least highly improbable) to recover the history that was deleted from the laptop. However, it is still possible that the IT department may be able to pull up logs from the server (if you use a VPN or the office's network connection), or there may be stealth logging that goes on via a driver or background utility that monitors traffic. In short, you should never look at, download, browse, etc anything that might get you fired. Just because it's not on the laptop, does not mean it's not retrievable.
Please be specific. History of what? History of your Internet browsing? Immedite session of your web browser? All your files on your hard disk? The answer to all those, by the way, is "no" anyway. Your computer simply shuts down unexpectedly; the next time it starts up, everything will be there.

An extra security precaution that one should take while using a laptop is to make it password protected. If the laptop is connected to the internet then antivirus, malware and spyware software programs are highly recommended. Deleting one's browsing history will also help prevent the invasion of privacy.
