Periodontal disease is caused by infectious bacteria that gets into your gums and causes inflammation. Many implants are needed because of Periodontal Disease. When receiving a dental implant, you will work not only with an oral surgeon but a periodontist will be heavily involved in order to help your gums heal and help the surgeon with the implant.
I'll tell you how to heal your gums.. Go get your dip and put another one in. Thanks

I'm not sure if this is really what you are looking for: I have no idea what heals the gums in general, if anything, but the lack of vitamin C causes scurvy, which severely damages the gums, resulting in the loss of teeth. So if someone ha scurvy, vitamin c will cause their gums to heal, if the damage is still reversible.

i had my number 15 tooth extracted exactly a week ago today, and i still continue to have pain. i can also feel with my tounge, little sharp pieces/shards in the extaction area. i think the are pieces of my tooth still in the gum from when the dentist was gutting the tooth in half. i have even pulled a little pices of the shards out and i think that the shards are making the extraction area not heal well... i cant drink anything cold or i will drop to my knees in severe pain. i am not sure what to do either...
The salt temporarly alkalinizes the mouth, which is the opposite environment bacteria likes to live in. The salt also helps your injured gums heal.
Your gums can always heal over the roots and stay put however that leaves bacteria trapped and it will eventually cause infection and can end up being real painful. Your best bet would to have it removed now because the longer you wait, the harder it will be to extract and much more expensive.
This is very normal until the gums heal completely after the surgery. It will take them a little while to completely firm up.
Angle your bristles at a 45 degree angle to srub out the plague that causes gum disease. Floss. Keeping you gums clean will keep them healthy. Its the bacteria in plague that cause reddness and swelling. If they bleed when you floss you have gingitis,it will take ten to fourteen days for them to heal as long as they are flossed regularly and brushed properly.
Naturally, it depends upon "which" extraction --- however, in the normal course of things, it should appear somewhat "depressed", and should be the same color of the rest of your gums. If bleeding continues, try biting down on a warm tea bag instead of "gauze". Why? Because tea contains "tanic acid", which helps heal and shrink the gum.
