I fully believe you can. My brother and I are both 16 and live in the States but have multiple friends in Canada. We text our friends and receive texts from there all the time and have never been notified of a larger bill.
Texting from the U.S. to Canada is charged at an International texting rate. You can get an international texting plan to save money.
yes, its pretty much the same thingMore specifically it depends on your carrier. In the United States and Canada, the generic term "Text Message" is accepted being a 140-160 character message consisting only of text.In other parts of the world, the term "SMS" means Short Message Service, aka text message. These are NOT Picture/Video messages, those are MMS. Multi-Media Messaging Service. If you have Unlimited Text, it MAY or MAY NOT include messages to IM providers like Yahoo, AIM or MSN. It also MAY or MAY NOT include messages to short code providers like Google (GOOGL) or the popular voting system for American Idol.
While in the US or Canada, each domestic SMS text message you send or receive is billed at $0.20 per message. T-Mobile does allow you to block both incoming and outgoing messages if you don't want to incur messaging charges. Depending on the plan you currently have or are considering and the number of text messages you normally send and receive, T-Mobile's talk+text plans may be more cost effective in the long term.
