Your brother is loaning you his car if you insure the car can he be held liable for an accident you get into?

ANSWERFirst, your brother's car should be insured anyway. However, if you have your own insurance policy and this fact is stated in the policy, you are liable. Furthermore, if you by chance, reside with your brother, you should be included in his policy. If your brother's coverage is liability only, but your's is higher, the higher coverage may apply, however, 2 policies on one vehicle may be applied in case there are excessive damages and/or personal injuries. In any case, all damages need to be satisfied based on the policy (s) limits, and that's if the other driver's insurance co. requests policy limits verification.

Can you insure a car on a fleet Insurance policy even though you don't own it?

Who is liable for damages above the maximum limit on your policy when you are not the driver?

The driver of the vehicle would be considered as secondary. Say you own a car, and are insured with company X. You let a friend borrow your car, and they have insurance with company Y. If there is an accident that exceeds the limits of the policy for company X, then company Y would pay up to their policy limit to cover the remainder of the balance for damages. If the driver does not have their own insurance, then potentially both the driver and the vehicle owner could be sued and be responsible for damages.

Can you insure a car that you don't own?

No. You cannot insure a vehicle that you do not own. The exception would be in a family situation where two spouses own two vehicles and insure them on one policy.

Will a insurance company fix damages to a vehicle that was covered at the time of an accident but then is later removed from the policy?

Yes, as long as the vehicle was on the policy when the damage occurred it will be covered.

Can someone else insure your car even if they do not live at the same address?

You cannot insure something you do not own and the address has nothing to do with it. The insured on the insurance policy must also be the owner of the vehicle. An insurance application and policy make up a legal contract. The contract states that you must own the vehicle insured. Lets use your example where someone else insures your vehicle. If the vehicle is damage in an accident, the insurance company cannot pay damages to the person listed on the insurance policy because they don't own the car. The also cannot pay you because you don't have a contract with them for insurance.

Can you insure a car that has insurance already?

No. By law only 1 policy is allowed per vehicle.

If I had a motor vehicle accident and have property damage liability is the other drivers vehicle covered?

That's what liability is all about. The keyword here is liability, which covers any incidents you may be liable for. Your policy will cover the vehicle, subject to policy limits. What happens if the damage you cause exceeds your policy limits, that I am unsure of.

Can you sue insurance company for more then there policy?

once the insurance has paid out the policy limits that's it. they do have to defend their client if you choose to sue their client for further damages which you can do.

Can there be more than one insurance policy on one vehicle?

You can not insure a vehicle for more than its value so more than one insurance policy would be a waste of money.

Can insure a vehicle twice?

No, you cannot insure a vehicle twice with two different insurance policies simultaneously. This is considered double coverage and is not allowed as it can lead to insurance fraud. You must choose a single insurance policy to cover your vehicle.
