When the truck is idling at low RPM, the charge supplied by alternator is not sufficient to run truck and charge battery of reverse polarity. Alternator expends majority of amperage toward charging (which never takes) and increase in RPM is required to spin alternator fast enough to accomodate ignition system and charging system in unison. What would cause a battery on a forklift to explode?

Overcharging by the alternator or if it is connected in reverse polarity.

What would go bad if you wired an alternator reverse polarity?

You would probably toast the diodes in the alternator.

Can a normal battery once wet reverse polarity?

no

How does a car battery polarity change into reverse polarity?

Car battery polarity can only reverse if the battery is completely dead and then charged with the neg. and pos. leads of the charger are reversed. This is very dangerous as hydrogen gas which is given of buy a dead battery may explode and cause personal inguiry.Likewise if the car's battery cables are accidently reversed while the battery is dead. How do you find out what systems are damaged after connecting the battery in reverse on a 1989 Ford F-150?

You can count on the alternator diodes being fried. But you might be able to have it tested. After that, much of the OTHER stuff has protection. Unfortunately, polarity protection is difficult if not impossible with an alternator.

Is polarity important when using power tools?

Only if it is a battery power tool and you fit the battery in reverse.

What can cause the diode in the alternator to fail in a fiat punto?

Just like anything else things just break. Have you had any electric welding done on the car? Have you used an external battery charger? Have you accidently connected the battery in reverse polarity?

How can repair battery damage due to reverse polarity charge?

If the battery is damaged replace it. There is no way to repair that damage.

How do you replace the alternator on a 1988 Buick Century?

Disconnect the 1988 Century battery. Remove the alternator battery. Disconnect the alternator wiring, then unbolt the alternator. Bolt in the new alternator, then reverse the procedure to finish the installation.

Is one battery in a truck reverse polarity?

Not unless you want to blow something in the electronics up...

Will i damage the ecu if you reverse the polarity on the battery terminals on your polaris sl750?

yes u rtard

If alternator is hooked up in reverse polarity what happens?

"If you connected the battery in reverse that will certainly fry the alternator and cause damage to any other polarity sensitive components as well. The alternator is NOT suposed to spark, it charges by by generating alternating current which is converted to direct current through a diode pack known as the rectifier, and the voltage is regulated by some more electronic wizardry called (amazingly enough) a regulator. Normally when alternators go wrong the charging warning light will glow, and you will get the wrong readings from your voltmeter (if your car has one)."
