You have discovered the real reason for never co-signing with a friend. Now you have lost a friend and a lot of money. Go to the bank, explain your dilemma and let them know that you want the car picked up and that you'll pay for the cost of the Repo company and continue to pay for the note but you don't want to subsidize your former friend. When you get the car back, sell it yourself. If you send it to the auto auction you will be getting next to nothing fo the vehicle.
Return it to what? The Dealer? They take all the money you gave them and leave a nasty mark on your credit.
In general, you cannot return a car to a dealer. You can sell it back to them, though. Selling it won't affect your credit.
If you don't have credit, you **can't** have a score, since they are solely based on your use of your credit. The bureaus return a report saying "no credit information on file".
That would happen only if the dealer has extremely poor business practices.
Yes, it can still hurt your credit if you voluntarily return a car. The car company will still put the debt you owe on your credit report if they choose too.
It of course effects your credit score. To learn more about your credit score visit either Experian, TransUnion or Equifax. If you can not pay for the car, the next best thing would be to return it to the dealer. Contact the lender and inform the company what you intend to do. If possible, return it back to the dealer you purchased the car from.
Yes, you can, if you're returing under a warranty. Warrnanties make you able to return the car whenever you want.
Your credit report will state that the vehicle was returned. It will still show a balance remaining once this vehicle is auctioned off. This is your best option, but it already has done it's damage to your credit report with missed payment. Also, this will affect your credit score monthly for the next two years from the date of last payment.
Some credit reporting companies will mail you your report, but you may have to do some research to find which ones. I suggest you go to the government mandated credit report site and download the official request form, print it out and then fill it out and return it to the address indicated. It may take 4-5 weeks for processing and delivery.

It is probably what is considered a write-off. It is probably to money consuming to pursue for the return.
