disconnect the negative battery and it should go off at least for a while
1997 and later vehicles have OBD II (On-Board Diagnostics Generation 2) computers. Disconnecting the battery cable may extinguish the Service Engine Soon light for a while, but it will not fix the problem that caused the code. An OBD II code reader will tell you what is wrong so the problem can be repaired.
The fuel system is a "closed system" and if the fuel cap is not on tightly the check engine light will come on. Tighten the cap and in a few days the light will go off. If not, then you may have something else going on, but this has been our experience with the check engine light.
disconnect the battery for 30 seconds
The vacuum line diagram for a 1997 Chevy Venture 3.4 engine outline where each line goes and what it connects to. It can be found within the service manual.
How do I reset the service engine light on a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer?
You need to hook the computer up to a scan tool to read the codes. That will tell you why the light is on.
I've got a better question, why is this question in the Chevy venture forum ?
Maybe you should service the engine soon. :P
unhook the positive on the battery for 5 min. This should reset your check engine light if it doesnt then you still have issues.
I have Chevy Venture too. Engine service soon sign will definitely bring some troubles later related to Engine heatup specially in summser season. Right away go for the engine tune up which is not cheaper than later you are gonna pay after your engine will heatup and cease. Change all the filters with oil channge and specially throw out the plugs it already had and change it with new Bostch plugs to have better performance. Overall Chevey Venture is a fabulous van I have ever driven or seen before.
Low side service port is just behind the condenser and radiator fans and just in front of the front exhaust manifold. It is a booger to get things hooked on when the engine is hot! Be careful.
Places like Advance Auto and Auto Zone have a service where they can plug a scanner into your car and tell you what the computer code means. This is generally a free service. With this information from the scanner, you may be able to discern the problem.
You have to remove the instrument cluster to service the light bulbs.
I have a 2000 venture and the traction control light came on. Where do I look first, hubs. Wiring.
When service engine light is on on a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer, the problem could be a faulty thermostat, a circuit range performance problem, or any other problem.
Best bet would be your friendly local Chevy dealer parts and service dept.
can you tell me why my 1999-2000 Chevy trailblazer light is on
That requires an OBDII engine scanner.
I was told by a co-woker that if you disconnect the negative battery cable for about 20 minutes or so that will reset the service engine light.
The 1996-2006 Chevy Venture has a 3.4L V6 engine and requires 6 spark plugs.
The check engine light means there is a problem with the emission systems on the vehicle. The service engine light means that a regular schedule service is needed. Most of the time this means you need an oil/filter change.
