If your 1997 1.8L Sephia starts and runs fine but the motor surges up and down at medium rpm is this a possible pcm problem?

My 98 sephia is having similar problems. I also have a Check engine light on, so I took it to autozone so they could read it. I was told it was possiby the throttle position sensor and/or the max air flow sensor. Not sure yet, I am looking to both of them right now. Good luck
