Don't feel intimidated by where ever you took your car, they should be able to explain it. Don't give up until you do. There are a variety of seals. My guess is it is either the drain plug or oil filter. It may have just been cleaned and they are waiting to see if it continues. Regardless, call and find out, only they can answer that.
Seems to me that an oil leak on a 2005 should still be covered under the warranty. Take it to a Toyota Dealer and have them fix it for free.
i suspect that they had recently done an oil change and either didnt tighten the drain plug, didnt tighten the oil filter, or put in the wrong filter in the first place. it sounds like a "smooth over" type answer but i wouldn't worry about it. as long as your oil light didnt come on the engine should be fine.
