The short answer is no, your internet does not still work. Now, it depends on what you are asking. There are many things that could be considered sleep mode. It could be that the screen saver kicked on in which case, everything in the background is still working and the answere would be YES. However, if you are in standby, your monitor and hard drive have stopped and in hibernation, you system has saved a snapshot of what you were doing and powered down.

>All application such as browser will be minimize after you put it "sleep" mode. Maybe, you mean with the screen saver I will say "yes" because only your monitor sleep (standby) not the entire Central Processing Unit (CPU). Meaning your Internet connection stop, the moment you put it to "sleep" or "hibernate" mode.

Whats the difference in the sleep mode and shutting the computer down Does the sleep mode still cause wear and tear of the components inside the computer?

It takes less time to resume computer from sleep mode then to boot it up. When you senf our computer in the sleep mode you can keep your programs open, and after you resume the system you have all your programs already running.

How do you shut your MacBook and have the computer running?

If you mean sleep mode, then all you have to do is put the screen down. Unfortunately, there isn't a hibernate mode such as in windows.

How do you use sleep mode?

When you tap the sleep key, the computer goes into a low power standby mode. Tapping the wake key brings the computer back up to a ready state. It is used instead of shutting down the computer because it is a faster way to get the computer up and running. Also, if you have a program running, there is no need to shut that off as it will be ready for you, where you left off when the computer wakes up. It is very similar to the 'hibernate' feature of many computers. Both sleep and hibernate are low power standby modes. I never use sleep mode because I see no advantage to being able to start up my PC that much faster than if I had just shut it down.

My Dell computer will not do anythingIf you press the brightness buttons it says in sleep mode move mouse or press button on keyboard but that doesnt workAny Suggestions?

If it is stuck in sleep mode just restart the computer by pressing the power button for 5-10 seconds. Then when the computer starts up make sure to go to your power options in control panel and disable all the sleep options. This wont fix the sleep problem but will prevent your computer from going into sleep in the first place. Commonly sleep issues occur when there is a program running that doesn't agree with being put in sleep mode and causes windows to crash.

What is the difference between shutting down your computer and putting it into sleep mode?

Generally speaking, yes, it is better to put the computer to sleep than it is to shut it down, for two reasons: 1. It's better for you - resuming from sleep mode is a lot faster than going through the entire boot up process. 2. It's better for the computer - resuming operation from a low-powered state is less harsh on you computer components than when you jolt it alive by turning the power on from a shut down state.

How do you autowake Windows XP?

It's not possible to have Windows XP wake up itself. While it's "sleeping", no applications are running. If you're in a business environment, you can set up another computer to transmit a Wake-onLAN packet to the computer. If your network card supports it (many Intel cards do), you can set it up to wake the computer out of sleep mode. You may also be able to do this with some home routers, such as those that run DD-WRT. A better option may be to set a wake up time in the BIOS (if available) and then shut down the computer completely.

How do you know if your computer is in sleep mode?

You know that your computer is in sleep mode when the screen is dark and all you see is your screen saver. There will not be any sounds coming from the computer either.
