If you can't take over the car payments (not working or not bringing in enough money) then you father is doing you a favor in the first place. It's his money he is risking for you and most kids don't get this chance to have a car without going out and working 1 or more jobs to pay for it. You can approach your father and ask if your name can be on the loan payment or title and let him be the best judge of that. What you could do if you are flexing your muscles of independence is finding out when the loan payments are due, and then giving your father the money to pay each months loan payment. Otherwise, drive and enjoy! Marcy
The key to this is your word "gift" and a gift means you can't take it back. You gave it to them. A court won't find in your favor because it was a gift.

The recipient of a gift doesn't incur any tax liability. The person MAKING the gift must be careful not to exceed their annual exclusion ($15,000 in 2012), to avoid their having to pay the gift tax. Proper structuring over several years can avoid much of that, but it's not your problem.
A Father's Gift - 2011 II was released on: USA: 5 November 2011
I'm guessing the title is in the father's name. If that's the case, the vehicle belongs to the father. The exception would be if the young man is granted an emancipation decree, (something that is very rarely done by any court) he could then file a lawsuit as an adult, against the father claiming the vehicle was a gift. The law presumes that any gift once given cannot be reclaimed by the giver. The wording of the title would not apply as the person at the time the vehicle was alledgedly given was a minor and would not have been able to hold sole titling.
If you are on the title as sole owner, you are owner/ unless you share with creditor. a bill of sale is required in most states but a gift is a gift.
No...A gift is complete upon delivery. *Yes, the burden of proof would be on the plaintiff as to whether the money was a gift or a loan.
If you make it yourself, you can create a Father's Day gift for minimal amounts of money.
I'm not sure that it makes sense to give a boyfriend a gift on Father's Day. If they aren't the father of your children, it wouldn't be appropriate.
Father Christmas gave Mr. Beaver a new dam building kit as a gift.
