Sounds to me as if maybe the speaker wires are unhooked or its grounding out somewhere
Ihave a 2000 s type and my battery is in the trunk, under the hatch in the trunk floor. I believe it would be the same for the 2002.
could be a bad battery connection or dead battery i had the same problem with my jeep Did you check the starter motor itself without the solenoid? Quite possibly worn brushes and/or dirty/worn/shorting motor armature. could be the ignition switch, is the clicking coming from under the steering column?
Bad starter? Bad starter solenoid? Bad neutral switch?
check the timing position the dash marks of both camshafts should be on one line while the mark of the crankshaft in the right position >
cam position sensor, located inside distribitor. have to take distribitor apart to replace it.

I have a 1998 Sable that has had the same problem. Every time it has been caused by a leak in a vacume tube. It has been replaced 3 times now on my car.
