The attacks were a deliberate attempt by a terrorist organization (al-Qaeda) to affect the foreign policy of the US and other nations by killing civilians in a series of organized suicide attacks. The underlying reasons for the attacks are a subject of continued debate. . A brief answer is that t…he United States has garnered a lot of hostility because of its support for the establishment and continuation of Israel, a Jewish state. This support has angered many Islamic nations in that geographic region, leading to many radical Islamic fundamentalists calling on the United States to withdraw from the region altogether and to stop supporting Israel. Obviously, the strategic interests for energy are too important for the United States to do this, and so the people -- Islamic fundamentalists believing they have a religious duty to fight the United States' infidels -- call on followers of radical Islamic faith to make war on US citizens and the US government. . In addition to Israel, Bin Laden himself listed several other grievances including, but not limited to: US soldiers stationed in Arabia in violation of Mohammed's wish that Arabia be entirely Muslim, the US and Australian intervention to assist East Timor (a majority-Christian country) to gain independence from Indonesia (a majority-Muslim country), the US intervention in Iraq in the Gulf War of 1990-1991 that resulted in Kuwait's freedom and the death of many Iraqis as well as no fly zones in Iraq, and the US support and direction of the Egyptian Regime under Hosni Mubarak. . The hijackers were mostly citizens of Saudi Arabia and they were thought to be members of Al Qaeda, led by Osama Bin Laden. A group of terrorists took control of two commercial airliners and purposely crashed them into the "twin towers" of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. Another group of terrorists took control of another commercial airliner, reportedly headed for the White House in Washington, D.C., which crashed in a field in Pennsylvania after the terrorists were overtaken by a group of passengers. Another group of terrorists took control of yet another airliner and purposely crashed it into the Pentagon. . It is generally believed that the Koran's teachings engender in some Muslim fundamentalists a hate for westerners which caused them to commit these hostile, mass-murdering terrorist acts. The terrorists believed that giving their lives in order to kill many of their western 'infidel enemies' in the United States was a "holy" act given to them by their god. They felt it was what they were 'destined to do' for their god, and that's why they did it. . Muslim fanatics attacked the US because of their belief that predominantly Christian nations such as the US have deprived the Islamic world of the leading role, and the power and prestige that it rightfully deserves. Elements of Christianity and Islam have been in conflict since the Muslim conquest of the Levant, North Africa and the Iberian Peninsula (beginning in the seventh century) and the Crusades in the eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth centuries. Additionally, US support for the nation of Israel since 1948 has greatly inflamed Muslim resentment toward the US. To the September 11th terrorists, that attack was merely the latest battle in a long running war between faiths. . Also, be aware that there are many people who simply hate the United States because they have a distorted view of our country. Instead of seeing the United States as the "melting pot" country that it is; that it is a "free" country; that it allows its people to believe, speak, and worship as they wish. They prefer to believe that because Americans do not believe, speak, and worship as they do, that everyone here is full of sin, going against "their" God in so many ways (religion, technology, etc.); not living our lives in their simple and prudent ways; not using only what is necessary, but rather using more than our share. . Additionally, there are many people in the West, including the U.S., who have historically viewed the Islamic nations as nothing more than a source of wealth to be exploited, with no regard for the welfare of the area's populace. Extreme religious views, and a total disregard for the rights and freedoms of others caused 9-11, and led terrorists to attack a nation because of a lack of tolerance for differences. The September 11, 2001 attacks on the United State of America was caused by terrorists affiliated with Al-Qaeda, the extremist Sunni Islamist militant group founded by, now deceased, Osama bin Laden. There motivation was repeatedly broadcast in recorded televised message in which they had declared a "Jihad" (so-called "struggle on behalf of God") on the United States, and had vowed death to Americans. Their extremist religious beliefs convince them that the doctrine contained in the Qur'an teaches that anyone who does not live according to their strict standards, and those who do not believe as they do are "infidels" and "non-believers," and must be killed. Since the American way of life promotes democracy, free will, free speech, free religion, and a number of other freedoms pertaining to potentially deviant behavior, Americans are viewed as "infidels" and their way of life is a threat to the extremist Islamist. They believe that "Allah" commands them to kill infidels, and rewards them in Heaven if they die in the process. Suicide bombings and hijackings are believed by these extremists as a guaranteed reward in the after-life. There is an official explanation that holds the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda and its founder and leader Osama bin Laden were responsible for the attacks. In the words of George W. Bush: "They hate us because of our freedom." The terrorist attacks of 9/11 were started when tensions betweenpowerful groups in middle east and the United States reached abreaking point. Al Qaeda was supposedly formed as a militant grouparound the time of the Desert Storm conflict between Iraq and theU.S. They have been blamed for many attacks in Iraq and Afghanistanbefore they infiltrated many factions of US security including themilitary and the CIA in order to find weaknesses in America'sdefenses in preparation of four large scale attacks using largecommercial airplane, three of which were very successful and onewas supposedly thwarted by hijacked passengers, missing it's targetbut nonetheless crashed in rural Pennsylvania, adding to thecasualties. Terrorist groups wished to kill hundreds or, if they could, thousands of innocent Americans. This is what extreme religion does to you...most Muslims are very peaceful, just like Christians or Catholics or Jews, but these extremists are dangerous and insane. They decided to kill the "infidels," or those who don't believe like they do. ( Full Answer )

yes it was. there were suicide bombers that landed in multiole ereas around the world
The planning for the September 11 attacks was a long processinvolving several pro-Islamist anti-US factions. Funding sourcescame from several Middle East groups with ties to world terrorismand other terrorist attacks. Notably this included the "Al Qaeda"and its Taliban supporters in Afghanistan. Inf…ormation strongly suggests that the aircraft suicide squads wereled by al-Qaeda military commander Mohammed Atta, with Osama binLaden, Ayman al-Zawahiri, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, and Hambali asthe key planners. Messages issued by bin Laden after September 11, 2001, praised theattacks, and explained their motivation but denied any directinvolvement. This denial was contrary to many facts uncovered byintelligence agencies in the aftermath of the attacks. Summary: Chief Planner: Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (Imprisoned,Guantanamo Bay, Cuba) Organization Claiming Responsibility: Al-Qaeda Organization Leader: Osama bin Laden (Deceased, May 2, 2011,shot in raid by elements of SEAL Team Six in Abbottabad, Pakistan) Hijackers (Nationality): One World TradeCenter - American Airlines Flight 11: Mohamed Atta (Egyptian), Waleed al-Shehri (Saudi Arabian), Wailal-Shehri (Saudi Arabian), Abdulaziz al-Omari (Saudi Arabian),Satam al-Suqami (Saudi Arabian). The twin towers of the World Trade Center were not the only focus of the attacks on 11 September, 2001. Al Queda intended to bring the US and her allies to their knees in a coordinated attack on several targets. On the morning of 11 September 2001, nineteen Al Queda trained operatives boarded and… took control of four commercial flights bound for LA, and San Fransisco. At 8:46 AM Eastern Time, American Flight 11 was crashed into the north face of WTC Tower One. At 9:03 United Airlines Flight 175 was slammed into the south face of Tower Two. As both towers burned in New York City, American Flight 73 was flown at 9:37 AM into the western face of the Pentagon building in Washington DC; and, passengers of United Flight 93 attempted to retake the plane at 10:03 AM and it was driven into the ground near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Al Queda failed to learn from history. While the attacks against the US were serious, as subsequent attacks against other targets in other nations, these only serve to set our resolve. We have entered into a guerrilla war. The US is familiar with this type of conflict, and it has bloodied our national face. It will not defeat us. Some sixty years ago Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto is alleged to have said, "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve," after the Empire of Japan conducted a sneak attack on the Naval shipyard at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in 1941. While the attribution of the quote is unclear, the results are of crystal clarity. This has been and is being repeated. ( Full Answer )

Answer 1 There are a lot of unanswered questions in the official 9/11 report from the government. The actual details may never be certain. A brief answer is that: . The United States has garnered a lot of hostility because of its support for the establishment and continuation of Israel, a Jew…ish state. This support has angered many Islamic nations in that geographic region, leading to many radical Islamic fundamentalists calling on the United States to withdraw from the region altogether and to stop supporting Israel. Answer 2: (Conspiracy Theories) There are doubts that Al-Qaeda (that was established and trained by the US and financed by the Saudis) is responsible of the September 11. A French writer analyzed the attack and its scenario and concluded that it was a plotting by the US intelligence to justify attacking the Islamic countries claiming attacking on terrorism. The most prominent conspiracy theory is that the collapse of the Twin Towers and 7 World Trade Center were the result of a controlled demolition rather than structural failure due to impact and fire. Another prominent belief is that the Pentagon was hit by a missile launched by elements from inside the U.S. government or that a commercial airliner was allowed to do so via an effective stand-down of the American military. Possible motives claimed by conspiracy theorists for such actions include justifying the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq as well as geostrategic interests in the Mideast, such as pipeline plans launched in the early 1990s by Unocal and other oil companies. Other conspiracy theories revolve around authorities having advance knowledge of the attacks and deliberately ignoring or assisting the attackers. Refer to related links below. ( Full Answer )

A plane was haijacked and flown into the Twin Towers, causing them to collapse and go on fire.
Unfortunately, there is no absolutely certain answer for that. I believe that 9/11 was real, but the government didn't release every detail about it. Unless someone higher up comes forward, the answer may never be known.
The government says terrorists caused this but there are many theories including the government causing the attacks
It happened on September 11th, 2001. It happened at the Twin Towers (North Tower and South Tower) of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon when terrorists hijacked 4 planes. With an idea, planning, training and the coordinated hijacking of four commercial airliners by 4 terrorists.
911 in a Nutshell: Nineteen al-Qaeda terrorist operatives trained and led by Mohamed Atta hijacked four US Commercial Airliners on 11 September 2001 in a plan created by Khalid Shiekh Mohammed in 1996 and approved and financed by Osama Bin Laden. American Flight 11 carrying 87 passengers and crew… and 5 hijackers targeted the North Tower of the World Trade Center at 08:46 AM. United Flight 175 carrying 60 passengers and crew and 5 hijackers targeted the South Tower of the World Trade Center at at 09:03 AM. United Flight 93 carrying 40 passengers and crew and 4 hijackers was intended to attack either the US Capital or the White House crashed in Somerset County, PA killing all on board. Since a man named Osama Bin Laden was forced to suck pencils shavings out of a cup with lead, he had been pissed of so he wanted to bomb americans because he's stupid. He ended up mad at everyone who had to do with america. Shay McQueen, a famous african american reporter, was dating Osama Bin Laden. They almost got married until she broke up with him. He then swore to hate americans and convinced everyone from seperate places to hate americans too. . Well 9/11 was planned by this suspect named Osama Bin Laden he hired some terrorist and then he made them go to the airport in New York City and they got on their planes and the terrorist killed the pilot and 1 would drive the plane and they crashed them in The World Trade Center and many many children lost their dads on the flight and alot alot of people died on this terrible day that Osama Bin Laden planed we will never forget 9/11 ( Full Answer )
The first one was flown in to the World Trade Center in New York City and the third one was flown in to the pentagon. The fourth plane crashed Pennsylvania. Almost 3,ooo Americans were killed in the attacks. Oh yea, the second plane was flown in to the white house, but the passengers new they were g…oing to die anyway so they over powered the terrorists in the plane and flew the plane in to the ground. Very sad thing that so many lives were taken in the attacks. After that in 2001 the US. and other countries attacked Afghanistan. Within a few years, the US went to war with Iraq and believed that Saddam Hussein, Iraq's leader, was hiding weapons that could be given to the terrorists. In 2003 a group of countries led by the US invaded Iraq. Saddam Hussein was captured and put on trial and executed. Now Iraq is rebuilding its country and is trying to create a democracy to help its people obtain self-rule. My sources are from my History teacher and the library. I'm doing a report in this and so I knew this could help me. Its a very sad thing what happened in the attacks. Many women, children, and men died in it. Sad, very sad. ( Full Answer )

No, it did not. The two are not linked. If anything, Iraq viewed Al-Qaida with hostility and apprehension. They were anything but allies. No, Iraq was not linked to the attacks on 9-11.
No it wasnt ok on September 11 . Alot of innocent people were killed on that day. It was so sad for all people, but I dont know why those people that destoryed the twin towers for a reason. But we never did nothing to them. I think the people that destoryed the twin towers were mean, stupid, …and were idots for destoying the innocent people! Well, if you need to ask this question, you have neither witnessed it nor seen it on television. The September 11 attacks were atrocities that murdered many innocent people. These acts were not justified. It was different from all other acts of terrorism because America, as a whole, watched in horror as other Americans died live on television before their eyes. We don't know to this day what could have been done to ameliorate the problem, but we do know that these attacks were absolutely unnecessary and definitely "not okay." ( Full Answer )

The Twin Towers (official name World Trade Center) - along with the passengers and crews of the two hijacked jets that were used in the attack - were destroyed on Sept. 11, 2001 by terrorists from the extremist Islamist group al Qaeda, the core element of which was run by Osama bin Laden (before he …was killed by U.S. Special Forces soldiers in May of 2011.) Simultaneously, al Qaeda terrorists also attacked the U.S. Pentagon building with another hijacked jet, killing the passengers and crew along with many military and civilian employees at the Pentagon.
