You are I am sure thinking of Othello, who was driven insane with jealousy by a guy he thought was his friend, but who was really trying to destroy him. As a result Othello killed his wife. A couple of other guys in different Shakespeare plays tried to kill their wives out of jealousy, but failed (The plays are The Winter's Tale and Cymbeline). And there is another play where a guy was driven insanely jealous of his wife and who publicly (at their wedding no less) accused her of sleeping around and walked out. It was later reported to him that she had died of grief (This play is called Much Ado About Nothing).
In Othello, the title character smothers his wife, Desdemona, thinking that she is committing adultery with his lieutenant Cassio. She isn't, but that doesn't seem to matter.
Macduff did.
He's killed by Aufidius when he refuses to lead an attack on Rome.
No, Othello is a fictional character. Shakespeare simply wrote the play to entertain, and entertain it did. It deals with love, hate, jealousy, racism, authority, headship, murder, deceit etc.

The play isn't about Mercutio. It's about Romeo and Juliet. Therefore Mercutio, even though he's a great character and all, was disposable.

King Hamlet, in Shakespeare's play, was poisoned by his brother Claudius.
It is actually from Shakespeare's play Othello. It is said by Iago to Othello and describes how jealously can consume a person by personifying jealousy. It was a also the first time green eyes were associated with jealousy and gave us the famous saying "green-eyed monster".
In the play, Shakespeare portrayed Richard with a deformed arm, but he didn't have this in real life. He is also made to have a hunchback-also one of Shakespeare's fantasies;). Also in the play, Shakespeare said that he killed the two Princes, though the corpses of the two boys were found at the Tower, there is no evidence that Richard III did actually have them killed. Hope this helps, sorry there's not much information:/.

"Othello" is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare. The story follows the downfall of the protagonist, Othello, a Moorish general in the Venetian army, due to jealousy and manipulation by his deceitful ensign, Iago. The play explores themes of love, jealousy, betrayal, and racism.
Iago is a major character in Shakespeare's play Othello.
No Shakespeare play has a character of that name.
