Rumors and legends abound, of course... so, each contributor's answer will contain the legend and/or rumor he prefers.

The earth's terrain has been considerably altered since the beginning. We don't know what ravages the flood may have caused. It's possible a shifting of the land masses beneath it may well have changed one big original landmass into the separate continents with which we're familiar today. Were the Atlantic Ocean removed and the land masses brought together... they would fit together perfectly.

The thousand-plus years of the pre-flood generations had plenty of time to create quite a large population and society... maybe... possibly sprawling directly over that massive fault line. And when the flood came and ravaged the earth... our modern tales and legends of the "lost city of Atlantis" may have been born. (just a thought, since we're "supposing")

Yet... the rumor I prefer is the one that suggests that since "...God planted a garden EASTWARD IN EDEN..." (Gen.2:8) - and since The Bible is a Middle Eastern book with this account in it... and since all of Bible prophecy looks out on the world from the focal point of Jerusalem - well... I think the idyllic Garden of Eden existed over the "lat/long" of Jerusalem.
