The location of the island is never stated in the book. However the island is in the tropics and does have a coral reef so the likeliest places would be the South Pacific Ocean, The Indian ocean or perhaps the Caribbean Sea.

The location of the island and the ocean in where it is located are never mentioned. The island has a coral reef and tropical vegetation which effectively rules out the North Atlantic, Antarctic, Arctic and North Pacific oceans. There are very few islands that might fit the bill in the South Atlantic, which leaves the likely locations as either the Indian Ocean or the South Pacific Ocean. However, as the boys were British they could have been on their way to a British dependancy in the Caribbean, such as Jamaica, and the island could be in the Caribbean sea. The original 1963 movie was filmed on a Caribbean island.

It doesn't, it starts from when Ralph met Piggy on the island. I'm not sure but it will probably be in the note section from pg. 203- pg.208.
