Hydrogen Bonds. Look them up.
In biochem, when you don't know, write "hydrogen bonding" and it is probably correct.

A brief overview of H Bonds: They form from "sigma charges" or partial charges on the molecule. Oxygen has a high electronegativity, and H has a low electronegativity, but the bonds are still covalent (difference of 1.4, if I remember correctly; differences of 1.7 or higher are ionic bonds; differences of 0.3 to 1.7 are polar covalent; differences of 0 to 0.3 are non-polar covalent). Therefore, the electrons shared by the H spend more time on the O side, and there is a partially negative charge on that side (remember, the structure of water is bent). Inversely, there is a partially positive charge on the H side. This attracts both ionic compounds and creates temporary dipoles that disassociate from their "typical" partners. Hydrogen bonds allow DNA to form bonds between A and T, C and G. They also allow water to have surface tension, and that affects cell membranes, and the fabric of life itself.
In short: without Carbon and Hydrogen Bonds, life could not exist.

What is a polar bond but isn't a polar molecule?

The molecule of carbon dioxide is non-polar in nature. However, the carbon and oxygen bonds in it are polar in nature.

Is benzene polar in nature?

no

Why ethanol called universal solvent?

Ethanol is a universal solvent as it contains both polar nature (OH) ion and the ethyl group which is a non polar substance. As a result it means that both polar nature molecules and non polar nature molecules can bond with ethanol which can as well form hydrogen bonding amongst substances.

How would you respond to someone who claims it is not important to protect areas of temperate and polar biomes because most of the worlds biodiversity is found in the tropics?

these biomes still promote ecosystem sustainability and are very important to the balance of nature

What molecules have polar bonds but are non-polar in nature?

Carbon dioxide has polar bonds but is non-polar in nature because of its symetrical linear structure.CO2 structural 'drawing':(δ+ or δ- means: partially displaced charge)δ-O= +δCδ+ =Oδ-

Are covalent soluble?

Some covalent compiunds are soluble in polar solvents, many are only soluble in non-polar . Solubility depends on the nature of the compound AND the nature of the solvent!

Is beryllium fluoride polar?

BeF2 is non-polar as it is (strangely) covalent in nature and as such, the molecule has a linear shape which produces a non-polar molecule.

Is PoCl3 polar or non-polar?

http://actachemscand.dk/pdf/acta_vol_13_p0190-0191.pdf The file above indicates that POCl3 has a dipole moment and hence will be polar. The O atom is more electronegative than Cl (by only a little bit), and will have more electron density than the Cl atom, hence the polar nature. Is it very polar in nature, not really, but it is polar.
