Both fascists and Nazis employed a private, but strictly controlled economy. They were both led by totalitarian dictators that could make up rules whenever they felt like it.

For additional clarification, the term fascist covers most governments that are secular and have total control of a nations politics and economy. The first fascist in Europe was Mussolini in Italy. The fascism in Nazi Germany was built on the same principles, however, Nazi only describes the fascist system in Germany.

Fascism was a political party/movement in Italy eventually headed by Benito Mussolini, but it was also an international philosophy of how to rule and what goals ones government should seek. Nazism was a "political party"(*) in Germany headed by Adolf Hitler which subscribed to the ideals of Fascism..

Hitler was a self identified fascist as was his allies in Spain(General Franco), and of coarse Italy.

Facism was/is a radical (ultra rightwing), authoritarian nationalist political ideology. Fascists advocate the creation of a totalitarian single-party state that seeks the mass mobilization of a nation through indoctrination, physical education, and family policy including eugenics. Fascists seek to purge forces, ideas, and systems deemed to be the cause of decadence and degeneration and produce their nation's rebirth based on commitment to the national community based on unity where individuals are bound together by suprapersonal connections of ancestry, culture, and blood. Fascists believe that a nation requires strong leadership, singular collective identity, and the will and ability to commit violence and wage war in order to keep the nation strong. Fascist governments forbid and suppress opposition to the state.

Fascists promote violence and war as actions that create national regeneration, spirit and vitality. Fascists view conflict as a fact of life that is responsible for all human progress. Fascists exalt militarism as providing positive transformation in society, in providing spiritual renovation, education, instilling of a will to dominate in people's character, and creating national comradeship through military service. Fascists commonly utilize paramilitary organizations for violent attacks on political opponents, people whom they oppose, or overthrowing a political system.

Fascism is anti-anarchist, anti-communist, anti-conservative, anti-democratic, anti-individualist, anti-liberal, anti-parliamentary, anti-bourgeois, and anti-proletarian. It entails a distinctive type of anti-capitalism and is typically, with a few exceptions, anti-clerical. Fascism rejects the concepts of egalitarianism, materialism, and rationalism in favour of action, discipline, hierarchy, spirit, and will. In economics, fascists oppose liberalism (as a bourgeois movement) and Marxism (as a proletarian movement) for being exclusive economic class-based movements. Fascists present their ideology as that of an economically trans-class movement that promotes resolving economic class conflict to secure national solidarity. They support a regulated, multi-class, integrated national economic system. Fascist economics supports the existence of private property, the existence of a market economy, and the use of the profit motive.

Fascism was founded by Italian national syndicalists during World War I who combined left-wing and right-wing political views, but it gravitated to the right in the early 1920s.[19][20] The majority of scholars generally consider fascism to be on the far right,

* The Nazi's were a political party early in their rise to power but they did not rely on political means to acquire power or maintain power. Adolf Hitler was appointed to his only national office of vice chancellor by Paul von Hindenburg and when Hindenburg died in 1934 Hitler seized power; he was never elected to national office. But it is true at one time early on the Nazi's were a sizable minority of the electorate which made them an attractive partner for Hindenburg's coalition government.
