Most of these door handles that break are the door handle itself and not any inner mechanism of the door. The door handle is a module that direct replaces. You have to remove the door panel but its pretty straight forward after that. remove the two screws from the bottom of the hand grab (for lack of a better term) first and invest in a door panel removal tool sold in auto parts stores for cheap. Take off the door panel and replace.

There are also two rods to deal with. one for the lock the other for opening the door. Do not get them mixed up. I was able to get the new handle in with the door lock only partially in the new handle. Then with the new handle screwed in I was able to push the lock all the way into place.
