This happened with my 99 GMC Suburban. The actual handle that you grab to open the door is made of aluminum and can break. This is what the problem turned out to be for mine (don't know what caused it). The entire gray square (plastic) assembly, including the aluminum handle, can be bought from the dealer. The handle has a metal clip/hook in the back of the gray assembly (inside the door body) and when the handle breaks or disengages from the hook-up, it won't open the door.

Got the replacement assembly (it's been a while now so I don't remember the price, easy to call the dealer and ask) and replaced it. This is a tricky thing as GM uses these plastic clips to hold the door components together and, if you break them, will leave you with loose door panels. First, the inside panel has to be taken out. Take a MEDIUM-sized screwdriver and gently LIFT the panel AWAY from the door, taking care not to totally rip the plastic screws out nor disengage the panel. This will give you a view of where the clips are. If you're careful, you can pull that panel off the door enough. Unfortunately, there are electrical connectors to that panel (for the auto lock and window). The wires were long enough that I could prop the panel on a step stool just under the door and not totally disengage the panel. Some of the connectors are easy enough to unplug, but from my recollection, the panel was still connected. There is a plastic sheet that is right behind that panel to protect moisture from rusting the door's insides, with some access holes in them to reach the lock. With decent difficulty, I snaked my hand behind the plastic, pulled the handle assembly out and replaced with a new one. Reattaching everything was a breeze. One tricky part was the new handle's connection to the locking mechanism, which I just had to force without breaking the handle again. I did all this in one afternoon, by myself, for about 3-4 hours. I did take time to not rip out the screws, how to prop up the panel, disconnect the electricals, not rip out the plastic sheet, and figure out how to reach behind it. In addition, it would have been so much easier if someone was helping me hold the panel when I was detaching and reattaching it. It was very satisfying to be able to fix it back to 100%. If your interior and exterior door handles will not open a car door how do you get the door open?

The only way to open a completely inoperable latch is to remove the handles and interior panel to access the latch directly. If the lock is disengaged, sometimes a "burglar bar" can reach the latching mechanism from the window well. But normally an undamaged interior handle would be directly connected.

Interior door handle 1995 gmc k1500 will not open door?

Super common for these inside door handles to break. They are about $80 from GM. Pretty straight forward to replace.

How do you remove the interior door pannel on a 94 saturn?

The interior door panel cannot be removed from the door. To work on the inside mechanisms of the door, remove the outer, plastic skin. First remove the outer door handle; lift the handle enough to expose the two pins that hold the handle to the door mechanism. Push the pins through and remove the handle. Next remove the screws around the perimeter of the door. They are visible when the door is open. After all of the screws are removed, lift the outer door skin off and you have full access to the inside of the door.

95 Honda accord lx drivers door wont open?

you have a few possibilities. the linkage could be disconnected on the handle, you could have broken linkage from the handle to the latch or your lock linkage could be disconnected while it is in the lock position. all of these can be accessed from the interior door trim panel. to get the door open you will probably have to remove the interior screws while the door is closed and pull back the panel as far as you can. be careful not to break it but you should be able to reach the linkage and open the door from inside the door frame

How do you install front speakers in a 2003 Honda civic?

1. Remove the plastic cover in the interior door handle. with a flathead. 2. Remove the screw. unhook the the release rod from the door handle. 3. go along the interior and pry it open, then pull out. Now you have access to the front door speakers. That's all I can remember when I did mine.
