Is 1720 a good SAT score?
I was told 1500 is the average. I got 1720 too and got to skip taking the placement tests for the college I am going to. So yeah, you did well.
Do you still have a chance of getting into a good college if you did average in 9th grade really well in 10th grade did bad in science and math 1st semester of 11th grade with an SAT score of 1720?
If you are talking about credit score, understand that I am not a credit expert, but since a credit score of 620 is bad, 215 would be a terrible credit score. If this is for a test like the SAT, this is also horrible. The average score of the SAT is about 500, and even that isn't that good of a score.
A score of 1730 on the SAT at 13 is quite advanced. Considering the average SAT score is 1500, taken by kids 4 to 5 years older than you, you are definitely in the vanguard. And, with so much time to really crack down on specific areas that need improvement, a stellar SAT score in your future college resume is promising. Good work!
Can you do bad on the Math part of the SAT - do really good on the two English parts and still get a good score?
Each of the three parts of the SAT (math, critical reading, and writing) is worth 800 points. Therefore, if you make a really bad score on the math part, it will dramatically affect your overall SAT score. For example 700 on the critical reading and 700 on the writing parts of the SAT would be considered a "good" score by most students. and 550 on the math part would be considered by "bad" score by…
The SAT is comprised of 3 sections: Math, Writing (Essay), and Critical Reading. Each of these 3 sections can score a maximum of 800 points. These three scores are added to make the maximum SAT score 2400. According to Harvard's acceptance statistics, they accept students with SAT scores in the range of 2080 - 2370. That should give you a decent measurement of what a *really* good SAT score is.
The best possible score on the SAT is a 2400, a score achieved by just hundreds of the more than a million students who take the SAT each year. The average SAT score is about 1540. But what's a good SAT score? While many students and parents ask that question, there really isn't a great answer. A good score on the SAT is different for each student, and depends on where you want to go…
An average SAT score is 1500. But more important is the way that the SAT breaks down and what the colleges are looking for in those areas. ie., if you have good Mathematics and Writing scores but your Critical Reading is off. A college only interested in Maths and Writing scores may ignore your Critical Reading score or not exclude you because of it.
