I much prefer B&S over Tecumseh because they are built a lot stronger. Having taken apart many of each brand, Tecumseh are more difficult to dismantle and are illogically assembled. Poor design quality, especially with their use of plastics.
Boy are better in math than girls?
Girls are better than boys because they developoed faster than the boys did
new things are better than old depending on what your talking about.

17 inch wheels are better than 16 inch .as,17 >16. They are better as they have greater area in contact with road providing better contact force.Hence 17 inch are better than 16 inch beacuse they provide greater stability.
If you mean Briggs and Stratton model 193702, then you want Briggs Stratton Carburetor Part No. 491590 It costs less than $150 USD. Check out http://www.smallenginesuppliers.com or the Briggs and Stratton website.
Briggs racing engines are made by Briggs and Stratton racing division. This company has been in business for more than 100 years; however, they did not always make racing engines.
I personally feel that it is a superior engine. The L-Head design is simple, time-tested, and burns everything well-- old gas, new gas, gas with ethanol, gas that has stabilizer in it, etc. Mine have always started easily and seem to be well thought out in terms of do-it-yourself maintenance. They are louder than Briggs and run a little bumpy, but they are powerful and long-lasting.Briggs seems to make better warm-weather engines. Their upper-line lawnmower and summer equipment engines are decent, but stay away from the cold weather lines.Top two for snowblowers in my opinion-- Honda and Tecumseh. Honda is probably stronger in the smaller sizes, and Tecumseh is a better value and offers better power on the larger sizes.Just one man's experience. Hope this helps.
A Briggs & Stratton 6 HP Engine takes a little less than 1 quart of oil. When you get to about 3/4 poured in, Stop and check your oil. It may take a hair more but not a full quart.
Absolutely not. Briggs & Stratton recommends you use nothing heavier than SAE 30 weight oil. Briggs says that SAE 5w30 Full Synthetic provides the best protection, easy starting, and less oil combustion in all temperatures. That is exactly what I would use.
If its less than 20 horse power, it probably wont have one. Mine is a briggs and stratton 14.5 hp and it does not have one.
Has to be purchased seperate. After all, this Wal-Mart mower is less than $100, so what do you expect.....

The Spirit snowblower is a Murray product that came into their possession through the purchase of Noma, and has since passed on to Briggs & Stratton since its acquisition of Murray. Nothing older than 2000 is on the Murray site, but OrderTree(the online presence of Dixie Sales, I believe) has many older parts breakdowns.
B&S does not specify compression readings. Look for 120, give or take 20. More important than actual compression is the difference between the 2 cylinders.
More than likely, there will be a dot on the gear on the crankshaft, and on the timing gear, and you just need to make sure that they line up.
