∙ 11y agoYes, Damascus is one of the oldest cities in the world. Damascus claims to be the world's oldest continuously inhabited city, however, there is no evidence to support this. The earliest evidence of inhabitance in Damascus is from 2,000 BC, which is at least 7,000 years later than the evidence supporting Jericho's claim for the world's oldest continuously inhabited city. Going from strictly evidence within the city's limits, Damascus is the world's third oldest city, after Jericho and Byblos.

There is no evidence to support human activity in Damascus prior to 2,000 BC, however. Jericho is the recognized oldest continuously inhabited city, as evidence supports human activity from 9,000 BC in the area.
