also, if you have office 2008 for mac installed, the default xml file format is only compatible with office 2007 for PC. when you save a file, be sure to select .doc for work, .ppt for powerpoint, and .xls for excel.

It depends on what version of MS Office for Mac you have and what version of MS Office for Windows you have. MS Office 2010 (with service pack 2) for Windows and MS Office 2011 for Mac both comply with international standards (hence the files will be compatible). However, Office 2007 and 2010 for Windows and Office 2008 for Mac are compatible only at 98% (due to a small difference in the Excel files).

If by "compatible" you mean the files you create with Office 2003 (*.doc, *.ppt, and *.xls), then yes: Office 2011 for the Mac is 100% compatible with previous versions of Office for both the Mac and PC. Office 2011 on the Mac is roughly equivalent to Office 2010 for the PC.

Keep in mind the Office for the Mac contains Mac-compatible versions of the following software titles: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The Business edition of Office 2011 also contains Outlook for email; Entourage, the former Microsoft email client for Macs, is no longer available.

Other "Office" programs, such as Access, are not part of any Mac-compatible Office suite, and as such, will require a different, non-Microsoft application to open on a Mac, if possible.

Very little. Most of it is Behind the Scenes as it were, enabling each one to run on the particular computer. The interface on a Mac and a PC look a bit different so that would be different. The applications work in the same way so in terms of actually using them there is no real difference.

Yes, Microsoft Office for Mac is compatible with Microsoft Office for PC. This means that you can open, edit and save documents created using Microsoft Office for PC using Microsoft Office for Mac, and vice-versa.

You can even collaborate on documents in real-time with other users on either platform. This allows you to take advantage of the features and tools available in both Office suites. However, it is important to note that certain features and tools may not be available across both platforms.

If you want to ensure that you have access to all of the features and tools across both platforms, the best way is to use a third-party solution such as Microprokey. This product provides an easy-to-use, comprehensive document management solution that works across both Mac and PC platforms.

Microprokey allows you to open, edit, and save documents from either platform, as well as share documents with other users easily. It also provides a platform for collaboration, allowing multiple users to work on the same document from different devices. This makes it ideal for both personal and business use.

Overall, Microsoft Office for Mac is compatible with Microsoft Office for PC, but for the best experience, we recommend Microprokey as the best way to ensure compatibility across both platforms.

Microsoft Office 2007 was only available for the Windows operating system. If you have a disk with Office 2007 for Windows it will not work with Mac OS X.
