Shiite was initially a small group of people, its not a religion but a group of Muslims who have certain views. They are in nearly all Muslim countries. There was never any ethnic nature tied to being a Shiite. Shiites have been Arabs, Amazigh (Berbers/Moors), Persians, Turks, and Indians. However, because Shiites have been persecuted in almost every Sunni Muslim country in pre-modern history (and even some to this day), many Shiites do not openly proselytize Sunnis to avoid political repercussions. However, Shiite Islam is just as evangelistic as Sunni Islam.
