It is fuel injected. It may appear to be a carburetor but is in reality a throttle body fuel injection system with one injector.

No, a 91 metro transmission will not fit in a 98. A 91 will fit any metro between 1988 - 1996 though. After 1996 a lot of Metro's became 4 Cylinder which made them different from the previous generation metros. It may fit if the engine sizes are correct (1.0 litre 3 cylinder to the same but do not mix and match).

look in the engine compartment on the left side behind the power steering fluid reservoir, the fuel injected models have a canister type filter, but the carbureted models have one on the frame rail in the back by the tank.

If memory serves me right, the 85 hp model for 1996, was carbureted, while the 90 hp was fuel injected. Other than that, 5 hp. Actually that's not right. The 90 also has carbs. The 85 doesn't have oil injection. The 85 has different porting which is the difference in HP.
