Is ahle sunna wal jamaat the only truthful group?

This a controversial question and accordingly there are several answers with different opinions:

Answer 1 - NO

No.

Every Muslim sect believe that it is the truthful group.

So you have to study about different Islamic denominations specially Shia and Sunni schools of thought to come to a clear conclusion.

Answer 2 - YES

Yes the only truthful group Yes it is the only truthful group.. The Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat is the largest group of Muslims and the only group whose beliefs and teachings are truly in accordance with the Holy Quran and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).

The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: "Follow the way of the largest group of Muslims! For, he who deviates from this group will be thrown into Hell!" (Ibn Majah)

The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) advised us to remain firm with the largest group of Muslims and remain steadfast upon their way in beliefs and in actions.

The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: "Allah will never allow my Ummah to unite upon misguidance and incorrect beliefs. Allah's mercy, blessings and protection are with the largest group of Muslims. And he who deviates from this largest group of Muslims will be thrown into Hell." (Tirmizi)

The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: "He who deviates from the largest group of Muslims, even as much as a hand span, has himself cut off his connection with Islam". (Abu Dawud)

The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: "In the period prior to the Day of Judgement, false and deceitful groups will emerge. They will say things to you, which neither you nor your forefathers will have ever heard before. Stay away from these deceitful people and do not let them come near you! Do not be misguided by them and do not let them cause strife amongst you!" (Sahih Muslim)

Every sect, every group says that it is the one that is on the right way. But there is only one correct belief and it is the ahle sunna ( Ahl as-Sunnat ) belief. Hadrat Imâm-i Rabbânîdeclares:

A hadîth declares that Muslims will fragment into seventy-three groups. Each of these seventy-three groups claims to obey the Sharî'at. Each group says that it is the one that will be saved from Hell. It is declared in the fifty-third âyat of Sûrat-ul-Mu'minûn and in the thirty-second âyat of Sûrat-ur-Rûm: "Each party rejoices in that which is with itself."

However, among these various groups, the sign, the symptom of the one that will be saved is given by our Prophet "sall-Allahu 'alaihi WA sallam" as follows:

(Those who are in this group are those who follow the way which I and my Sahâba follow.) [Tirmudhî]

After mentioning himself, the owner of the Sharî'at did not need to mention the Sahâba "ridwânullâhi ta'âlâ 'alaihim ajma'în"; yet his mentioning them may come to mean: "My way is the way which my Sahâba follow. The way to salvation is the only way which my Sahâba follow." Those who follow the way of the Sahâba "alaihimurridwân" are no doubt the group of the Ahl as-sunnat WA-l-jamâ'at. The group that will be saved from Hell is only this one. (First Volume, 80th Letter)

Today many people say that they are Ahl as-sunnat. Therefore, it is necessary to know the tenets of Ahl as-sunnat belief. After knowing them, it is not difficult to find the truth.

This is a question that cannot be objectively answered and is a question of belief. I would recommend that anyone genuinely curious about whether Sunni Islam is the true religious path first read the criticisms of Sunni Islam both by Shiites, Ibadis, Ahmadis, Liberal Muslims, and others in the fold of Islam as well as those by Non-Muslims. If the belief can survive a thorough critique, then it may be worth believing in.
