Answer 1

There is no such compulsion. However, the Muslims and the Hindus have some common customs. They may take part in each others customs to show tolerance, friendship etc.

Answer 2

It is unclear what the question is asking. Kuwait has its own laws separate to Islamic Shari'a which are in force and to which any resident or citizen (including Hindus) must accept. Many of these laws promote religious inequality with Islam and Non-Islam Religions receiving unequal protection in the eyes of the law. However, there is no forceable requirement for a Hindu to abandon his religion and convert to Islam, as Answer 1 correctly notes, and it is legal in Kuwait to be a Non-Muslim. (This is in contrast to Saudi Arabia, where freedom of religion is not protected.)

Some of the discriminatory Kuwaiti law that targets Non-Muslims includes:

  • Prohibition of Non-Muslim naturalization (i.e. an immigrant Non-Muslim can never become a Kuwaiti citizen)
  • Islamic blasphemy laws
  • Prohibition for Non-Muslims to proselytize and state support for Muslims to proselytize Non-Muslim residents.
  • Organized Religious Education is illegal for Non-Muslims
  • Other than certain Christian groups, Non-Muslims cannot bring over clergy from outside of the country, build houses of worship, or request security personnel to protect a place where worship might occur
  • Muslims and Non-Muslims are required to fast in public areas during Ramadan

Every immigrant has to abide by the Laws of the land. A citizen has to abide by the laws of his own country as well. Various countries have different rules for immigrants. Muslim or Non-Muslim is not the question. The Muslims are bound to abide by the rules and regulations imposed on them by the American Government if they enter , or Australian Government whatever the case may be if a Muslim enters these countries. A wise saying goes, "Do in Rome as the Romans do."
