Of course, that's what it is for, but cats do not usually require much bathing, they keep themselves clean most of the time. Unless the cat has a health condition that requires bathing, or has gotten very dirty, such as in oil or mud, it's not necessary to bathe a cat.

Just be careful not to get it in the cat's eyes. Always keep the cat's head above water. And keep in mind bathing a cat is not really necessary-unless the breed needs it, like the Sphynx, or if it is a flea bath or some such thing.
