Don't know. Kittens need to be older than 3 to 4 months to respond to catnip.

Well...usually

I had a cat who was born in my house, who loved catnip at three weeks of age.

When he was a new kitten we had a cat bed with six-inch-high sides. About three days after he was born, he decided he didn't like it in there anymore...so he climbed out. He got halfway across the bedroom and decided he wanted to eat, so he screamed for his mother. She got him and put him back in the cat bed. He ate and climbed right back out. Two days after his eyes opened he climbed the blanket and got into bed with us. So...for the next eight weeks, until we felt comfortable with letting him out of the bedroom, he and his mother slept between my wife and I under the covers. And he was orange, which is the loudest color of kittens.

ive read that its harmless to cats and humans

Kittens can respond to catnip as early as 8 weeks old. The positive reaction and desire for catnip is inherited from their mother - if mum likes it then kittens will too.

All cats (in your case kittens) can, it is like a drug to them, but it is not like it hurts them like drugs hurt us.=D

Also keep in mind about 40% of the cat will not react to catnip.

No, Catnip is a member of the mint family, which has about 250 species. The essential oil in catnip, nepetalactone, has a powerful effect on cats. It can turn the grumpiest cat into a hyper, happy, bouncing kitten. Or maybe it could turn them agressive.

I'd say catnip is a drug for cats ... ( Hoped this helped!)

It has a positive affect on them Cats love catnip toys. You can even buy a package of catnip and put it in an old sock for them to play with. It won't hurt the cat. It makes them happy.

Yes, although most kittens under 6months of age may not experience the effects of the cat nip, its perfectly fine for them. Cats love to chew and eat the live plant form too.

Over time. Immediately, it has quite the opposite effect. It only calms them when they've burned off enough energy to wear themselves down a bit.

How can you tell if your kitten had too much catnip?

No, because catnip is harmless to cats. Some cats may vomit if they eat catnip leaves, or a large amount of catnip leaves, but that is a normal reaction when cats eat a lot of any plant. Otherwise, catnip will have no negative effects on your cat's health. It should be noted that some cats may react aggressively to catnip rather than happily. This is only because different cats respond in different ways to catnip. If your cat happens to seem angry after exposure to catnip, it does not mean that it has harmed him/her in any way.

If you mean on cats: It has an aromatic oil which is like alcohol to a cat but the cat only has to sniff it and it kind of makes the cat drunk. Also the aromatic oil makes it addictive to cats.

No, but i don't recommend eating it. It is a base to neutralize the acids (ammonia) in the cat urine. Most of them have odor neutralizers that have harmful elements in them. Hope that helped, have a nice day. :)

What are some of the effects of catnip on cats?

There is an oil in the plant that catnip originates from that cats are extremely susceptible to. The smell of the catnip, or the plant, causes cats to behave in a certain manner. Therefore, catnip becomes a natural addition for cats.
