Not at all. Whilst Christianity began in the Middle East and became more of a Western religion after America was discovered, the main growth in the church is now in the east. In southern Korea, growth has been astronomical and there are many churches there that now have congregations of over thirty thousand members each. In Russia, growth has been vigorous and incessant since the days of perestroika. In Africa it has been estimated that there are now more Christians than America and Europe combined. In India there is a huge, and growing, Christian population. But the most impressive growth is in China. In the sixties, when religion was outlawed during the 'cultural revolution', there were only around five thousand Christians meeting in secret for fear of persecution in the whole country. Since religion has been tolerated in China, those practising Christianity in the year 2000 grew to an estimated 50 million people, and, since then, the numbers of new Christians are estimated to grow by tens of millions every year so that by now, there are nearer 100 million practising Christians in that country.

Christianity
Christianity originated in the middle east, but is generally considered a western religion, since it has been most widely accepted in Europe and the Western Hemisphere, whereas it has had less acceptance in eastern countries such as India, China, and Japan.
The largest religion in Western Europe is Catholicism, which is the largest branch of Christianity. However, the fastest growing "religion" in Western Europe is no religion, as more and more Europeans in general are becoming unaffiliated or recognized Atheists.
Christianity, more specifically Catholicism.

Catholicism, the Roman Catholic version of Christianity, was the principal religion in medieval England
Christianity developed from a religion among a small group of Jews (who lived in Judea, which was part of the Roman Empire) into a mass religion in the Roman days. It spread around the Roman Empire. It became state religion. Catholic Christianity and Orthodox Christianity developed during the Later Roman Empire. They were originally called Latin or Western Christianity and Greek or Eastern Christianity respectively. The former was the main form of Christianity in the western part of the Roman Empire and the latter was the main form of Christianity in the eastern part of the Roman Empire.
