No. The now defunct Soviet Union consisted of many countries that spread from the east of Europe to the east of Asia. Some of the countries in eastern Europe were part of what was known as the Soviet bloc, but not part of the Soviet Union. This would have included countries like Poland, Romania and Bulgaria, amongst others. Some of the eastern European countries, that now have their independence, like Lithuania, Lativa and Estonia, were part of the Soviet Union.
Yes.
At the end of World War 2, The Western Nations of the allied forces wanted all of the European nations to be freed and allowed to be self ruling AND democratic. Democracy hating Dictator Stalin was not going to do that with the nations he took from the Nazi Germans. The continual conflict over this matter between Stalin and FDR and Churchill ended up in a stale mate. Stalin got his nations to keep under communist Soviet rule and the other half of Europe the western allies liberated were allowed to be free and democratic. This sparked The 50 year Cold War.
A satellite state is one who's government is heavily influenced or controlled by another country. In the Soviet Union, the satellite states included Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, German Democratic Republic (in what is now eastern Germany), Poland, Romania, and Hungary. Yugoslavia was also considered to be a Soviet satellite state, though it broke away from the Soviet Union in 1948. Albania was the same, breaking from the Soviet Union in 1960.
Between 1941 and 1944 took place the Great Patriotic War in Soviet Union which was almost completed in 1944. At the same year began the liberation of enslaved nations of Europe by Red Army.
By the end of World War 2 the USSR had regained all its pre-war territory, annexed parts of Poland, Czechoslovakia and Romania, and soon afterwards it established satellite states in the countries that it had liberated from Nazi rule.
The Soviet Union invaded those countries with its massive army. Just to give you an idea about the scope of the Soviet Army, the USSR lost 8.7 million soldiers during the war and still managed to conquer half of Europe. The Soviet Union invaded Eastern Europe at the same time that the United States, the United Kingdom, and other Western Allies invaded Western Europe. The difference was that after World War II, the Western Allies withdrew a large portion of their armies and allowed the countries of Western Europe to determine their own governments. The Soviets used their military power to force Eastern European governments to be modeled after the Soviet Union and kept their armies in Eastern European countries to crush dissent.
More or less, one what you ask is the Eastern Block, but Eastern Europe is not the same (Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia were part of Soviet bloc but they are in Central Europe never Eastern one.) Eastern countries use Cyrillic-based alphabet and used to be related with Byzantine-Russian culture when Western/Central countries use Latin-based alphabet and were more related with Roman culture.
Yes.
A soviet republic was a territory of the union (much like states today). USSR (soviet union) stands for "Union of Socialist Soviet Republics"
Soviets are people from the Soviet Union, it's like Americans and America
No countries in Eastern Europe have legalized same-sex marriage.
The Middle East is not the same as Europe.

The USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) and the Soviet Union are different names for the same thing. It's like how another name for the United States of America is USA.

The Soviet Union also invaded Poland around the same time. Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939 from the West, and the Soviet Union invaded Poland on September 17th of the same year from the East.
Different countries in the same part of the world.
