There is no Scientific proof that dye in cat food is harmful, but little has been done to research the effects of these ingredients building up in cats' systems over time. The dye offers the cat nothing in terms of nutrition; it is added to make the food aesthetically pleasing to human owners. Humans are sensitive to colour, so naturally pick a food that looks colourful. However, cats see in limited colour and are more sensitive to the smell, taste and texture of the food.

While there is no proof of it being harmful, some cats cannot digest the coloured pieces and vomit them back up soon after eating. What is most worrying is that these coloured pieces stain carpets and are difficult to wash out. Imagine what these chemicals could be doing to a cat's digestive system.
