Actually, There has been much discussion on this matter especially since so many bad beats are seen in online poker rooms. The truth to rigged poker sites, lies in the software used to generate the cards. The RNG (or Pokerrng, Random Number Generator), has a lot to do with the outcome of the cards. A recent book by Paul Westin, a software engineer and avid poker player, explores the associated software algorithms that sometimes make the poker sites appear to be rigged. In his 'Online Poker Code Crack', Westin explains the inner workings and reveals how to manipulate the software used in online poker rooms to allow players a winning edge against the software. Without a question or doubt, full tilt Poker is a criminal case waiting for trial. It defies all logic of which poker is based. It's the very reason they cowar on a native reserve in Canada. They are thieves and take advantage of a self proclaimed commission which has no recognition by any government. Play in real casinos where reality exists.
I have been playing for years now and full tilt poker is a scam. The cards are rigged to promote action, pay off the donks, and bang people out of tournaments faster so the site profits from increased rake and tournament fees. Keeping the donks playing longer also promotes increases in the rake.

No,
Poker sites are not rigged at all. They have no reason to "rig it".
Why?
Because poker sites earn their money by the rake's and tournament fee's in cash games and tournaments. (Rake = the small percentage of the pot going to "the house" (pokersite)). If you lose your money in a hand, that money goes directly to the other player. And that player is - like you - another poker player.
People will often claim a poker side is "rigged" because of them suffering a bad beat, or just not knowing how to play correctly and losing their money. They think/say the site is rigged because they lost their money while gambling and are frustrated because of it.
It does have risks.
It's illegal in the United States to establish a gambling site on the internet. It violates the Interstate Commerce Clause.
Because of this, the sites that host poker for real money are housed outside of the United States and as such, are not regulated by the gaming commission.
When one plays poker on a web site, they're essentially trusting the web site to regulate itself, which may or may not be in the interests of that site, and they may or may not have the tools to do so.
There have been instances in the past of the programs being used by web sites being compromised to outside parties who then exploited the program to cheat at the game itself.
These are few and far between however, and any ads that one sees for "how to cheat at poker" should probably be ignored, as these most certainly are scams. If a cheater knew how to cheat, they certainly wouldn't advertise.
It is indeed possible to compromise the sites however, and it's been done in the past.
Beyond that, there are methods to ensuring a greater degree of success at a poker table that can be accomplished on the Internet that include collusion and other behaviors that would get a person thrown out of (if not arrested in) a genuine casino, but that are entirely undetectable through an on-line casino.
It's probably not fair to call real money poker sites "a scam" as some do work very hard to ensure a legitimate gambling environment.
It would also be unreasonable to say that these sites are not at risk for compromise and even in cases where they're not compromised, it is still possible for clever users to manipulate the odds at a poker table in a virtual environment.
