The Department of Education does not accredit educational institutions. However, the U.S. Department of Education does recognize accrediting bodies for the accreditation of institutions of higher (postsecondary) education. Grantham University's accrediting agency, the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), is recognized by the Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency.
