The presence of a carburetor has nothing to do with automatic or manual transmissions. Newer vehicles use computer controlled fuel injectors to provide enough fuel for the engine to run. Injected cars have a couple different ways to configure the injector system. When multiple injectors are placed along the intake manifold it's called port injection. When a central injector is placed in the throttle body, it's called throttle body injection. Older vehicles were equipped with carburetors, which provided the fuel the "old fashioned way", and was not anywhere NEAR as precise as the computer controlled injector systems today. Automatic transmission just mean that you don't have to use a clutch. neither, only farm tractors

Yes, they are both 2nd generation Escorts. This is if you are going to change a manual to a manual or an automatic to an automatic.
BMWs are only available with manual transmissions at purchase. However, automatic transmissions may replace manual. There are only a few automatic transmissions which may be used in a BMW, so it is an expensive process.
