Why only one Chinese child per family?

The reason that only one Chinese child is allowed per family is because of the One Child Policy. Introduced in 1978, this policy was created by the Chinese Government to alleviate economic, environmental and social problems in China. When the policy was first introduced, the fertility rate in China was over 3 children per woman; in 2008, the number had fallen to 1.8 children per woman. While it has helped with both economic and environmental problems, it has had a large impact on rural families, which rely on their children to work the farm.

What was the one child policy in China?

China's one child policy was created by Deng Xiaoping in 1979 because of the large population; 300 million people were born over 20 years. China knew it had to do something to slow population growth. People prefer to have males rather than females since males earn more money, females babies are killed, either that or they are given up for adoption. Recently, China had a horrible earthquake. All the families that lost their children will be allowed to have another baby but parents over 60 years of age that lost their child will be given $150 from the Chinese Government to make up for it because they will not be allowed to have another child. Couples that adopt a child or baby orphaned by the earthquake, that have not already given birth to their own child, will also be allowed to have a second child by natural birth. Those couples over 50 years of age who lost their only child to the earthquake would also be paid 600 Yuan ($89). Couples that already have a child that get pregnant will be forced to get an abortion whether they want to or not. If a woman gets pregnant with twins then she may keep both the babies just as long as she has enough money to look after both the children.

Is the Chinese government right introducing the one child policy?

they feel angry pissed you even might say and worthless for they don't even get a say because like read this story: a woman from a county in Xiamen city, southeastern China, who at eight months pregnant was dragged from her home by family planning officials, beaten up, detained for three days and then forced to undergo an abortion. This, it is claimed, was because she already had a nine-year-old daughter and was violating the rules of the one-child policy. you see what people will do just to save money IM DISAPPOINTED

Why was China's one child policy introdueced?

It was for many reasons. I wrote an SA for school on it, here it is: China's One Child Policy China's one child policy was created by Deng Xiaoping in 1979 because of the large population; 300 million people were born over 20 years. The population would have been a lot bigger if female babies were wanted. Has China breached human rights? I think it is clear that china has not breached human rights. Article 3 of the 'Universal Declaration Of Human Rights' strictly says 'Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person'. The paragraph below proves that China hasn't breached human rights. An orphanage in China called Guangdong orphanage. This orphanage in particular has been neglecting the female children because no one wants females. For example, Two year old Mei-Ming which stands for no name has been sitting tied up in urine-soaked blankets while her face is shrinking to a skull. Each morning a carer at her orphanage goes into the dark room where she lies alone to see if she is dead. The orphanage staff, paid to look after her, does not visit. They call her room the 'dying room' and they have abandoned her there for the same reason her parents abandoned her shortly after she was born. Her problem is that she is a girl. She will be one of 15 million children that have been neglected since china's one child policy. What do the children think? I did a survey on the one child policy to the children of my school. When the results were complete, I discussed the results with the people around me and wondered why the results were so different. Out of all the 27 students there on the day, 17 said there shouldn't be a one child policy and 7 said yes. I can see why 7W doesn't want the policy, it's because they wouldn't want to be killed or given away but I also understand the 7 people that said yes. The 7 people that said yes think that the policy is good because it keeps china's population growth smaller than it would be without the policy, in fact, the population would be so big, and china wouldn't have the right amount of food, shelter and water to look after the children. If we don't act now, then when?
