it will take you a day. Yes it is hard and at the same time it is easy. Sooo, if you have never done one before you will be at it all day. $ 358.00 to replace timing belt, and add $ 50.00 for the water pump. Remember the water pump is driven by the timing belt. Sooo, replace both at once. Usually $ 458.00
Yes. There is very little room to work.
The timing belt is not difficult to replace nor is it expensive in and of itself. The problem is that the timing belt is difficult to get to. Mechanics also suggest that you replace the water pump and possibly some other components so that the the same area does not have to be dismantled in the future to do these repairs. It is not hard to get into the $400+ range.
Not a quick job. Timing belt covers have to come off, which means most of the stuff on the right side of the engine, including the motor mount. the water pump is driven by the timing belt - brilliant design concept NOT. start with timing belt replacement instructions....might as well change the belt while you're there. it is under the timing cover. easy to replace pump hard as hell to get to it. remove tire remove inspection panel then remove all belts then remove crank pully then remove timing cover and there it is. replace timing belt while your at it.
Most all timing belt need to be replaced between 60k-90k miles, if they get oil on them they will go bad quicker. You do not want the belt to go out on you while running the engine, it will cost you big bucks. The belt is not hard to change, have it serviced between 60k-90k miles to be safe.
take it to the dealer and pay them. its too hard for the average joe to do at home.
Bad missfire and if ur car is hard to start then its a stretched timing belt.
replace every 90k kl or 60k kl if driving hard don't wait for it to go as you damage the engine if it brakes
no it has a timing belt. it's not that hard to replaced
It has a timing chain. Normally they will last for at least 150,000 miles or longer. If it becomes noisy or car is hard to start, backfires, or performance is sub-par have it checked.
every 100K miles, unless you drive it really hard ... if so, replace it sooner
You need to change the timing belt at 150000 km
I am going to assume you mean timing belt. The Fiero does not come with a belt If the chain fails, there is usually no internal damage other than the chain, but the engine must be removed to service, unless you like doing it the hard way.
