Withholding food is often a form of "punishment" for bad behavior in some homes.

Time out may include mealtime absence.

The regular use of serious, long-term food withholding as a technique for disciplining children is considered child abuse and can be grounds for investigation by child welfare authorities in North America.

In more simple terms. Being sent to your room without dinner for bad behavior is NOT illegal. If you are repeatedly denied food in your home over long periods of time, then speak with your school counselors or someone else of authority.
