In states where it is legal to do so, such as Texas, you can make a left hand turn on red ONLY from a ane-way street to another one-way street
Nope ... If it's posted "No Left Turn" you can't legally make a left turn ... be it a driveway, a street or the ocean.
in Alabama west canford street just make a left and youll be there turn left by east irby street
join the left turn lane about a block or so before turning left
No!!! Left turn on red is not permitted anywhere in the US except when turning from a one-way street onto another one-way street.
Yes, in Pennsylvania, you may turn left after you stop at a red light, if you are in the left lane and are turning left from a one-way street onto another one-way street, unless a sign tells you not to turn. You must first stop and yield to pedestrians and other traffic. This is from the PA Driver's manual.
No. It is NOT a travel-lane.
It doesn't say street names, it just says turn left or right.
Its called a "shared left turn lane"
Know you can only make a right on red in Pennsylvania and only when safe to do so.
Any turn going left from any of the right lanes is an illegal turn. However, if you signal into any of the two left lanes (assuming the white lines are dashed and not solid), you can make a legal left turn from any of the two left turn lanes. Treat it like a four-laned intersection without the street lights and without a lane going straight. You must turn into your lane accordingly.
the middle of the road
I know in Long Island, NY, you're allowed to LEGALLY turn right on a red light, unless there's a sign that prohibits that.Another view: Some states DO allow legal left hand turns from a one-way street onto another one-way street. you will have to check you local statutes to determine if that is the law in your jurisdiction. Most states allow this. Look in your states driver's license manual for specifics. For example from the Alabama driver manual :"You may make a left turn after stopping if you are driving on a one-way street and the street you turn left onto is a one-way street with traffic moving from right to left."
