I do not know if what your boyfriend is doing would be considered mental abuse, but to me he is being insensitive and rude at best. What does it matter what the label is? If your boyfriend is treating you disrespectfully, and this certainly sounds disrespectful to me, the very least you need to do is to sit down with him and explain that you do not like to be talked to like you are a child. If that doesn't change things, I would seriously consider if it would be best for my personal future to break up with him.
