Personally, I would not think it was OK because people with addiction and depression need all the support they can get and the best source of that is from those close to them - althought that is not easy. Addiction and depression are often caused by actual physical disorders which can be medically treated, and the person may not be able to help themselves without them. In those cases, they are no different to someone who is ill from cancer or has paraplegia. Would it be OK to cheat on these people? If you were in a similar situation, would it be OK for your husband to cheat on you? Unless he is abusive, there is no reason to abandon him and even then it would not necessarily be cause to have an affair. Try to join one of the many support groups that exist for people who have spouses in similar situations as this will give you some of the emotional support you need and are looking for. Also, if you've not already done so, learn all you can about his condition as this will help to both understand and to treat the problems. Do what you can to ensure that he receives professional help to overcome his addiction and depression.
