Once established which port your laptop has you will need either an HDMI to HDMI or VGA to HDMI cable to connect to your TV. The picture quality should not be affected by either as you will be using the laptop's inbuilt graphics and all you are doing is changing the visual display from screen to TV, which should be simply done by pressing the correct function key for external display once your cable is connected.
