no oceans are also referred to as carbon sinks. this is because marine organisms make shells out of carbonate which later turn into a sedimentary rock called limestone.
also the carbon in these shells can remain in for a long time. the carbon is returned to the air as carbon dioxide during weathering and volcanic eruptions.
Humans can indeed be considered carbon sinks. Not only do humans have a lot of carbon in them they also use a lot of carbon.
Total Carbon Emissions. Canada is one of the few Carbon negative countries in the world. We have a large country, 10 million sq/kms, low population, 35 Million, with 10% of the worlds forests. At only 3.5 people per sq/km our land, oceans, and forests sink much more carbon than we emit. There are other countries who sink more carbon than they emit but Canada is by far the largest, #1 carbon sinker.
Forests remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere through the process of photosynthesis, helping to mitigate climate change. They also remove other air pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide and ozone. Additionally, forests release oxygen (O2) into the atmosphere, providing essential breathable air for humans and wildlife.
The carbon cycle removes carbon from the atmosphere, but only temporarily.Photosynthesis, when plants grow, is the only way to permanently remove carbon from the atmosphere. So we need to plant more forests.
Trees and other growing vegetation are the only things that seriously remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the world is still cutting down its great forests.
Only about 7% of the word's trees are in rain forests.
Afforestation is important because it tries to balance the deforestation that has already taken place around the world. Trees are planted where the land is barren so that forests are created. Growing vegetation like forests is the only thing we have that will remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, so forests reduce the speed of global warming.
Burning fossil fuels isn't the only reason carbon dioxide is building up in the Earth's atmosphere. The other reason is the destruction of forests all round the world.
Wolves spawn in forests, so any world that has forests will have wolves.
Not only could it , it DOES.
Only breathe when necessary. Don't chop down forests. Don't use cars as often as we do.
All kinds of Human activities show us just one Result - the consumption of Energy. We need to switch to "Most of all Human activity tends to lead towards conservation, the opposite of the norm."
